Front Desk Receptionist
SUMMARY: The Front Desk Receptionist is responsible for the reception area of the shelter. Includes the greeting of all visitors; answering phone calls; assisting the public with questions regarding shelter services; booking all medical appointments; processing animal intakes, fosters, adoptions and other services into the computer system; handling payments and other duties as needed.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES
* Properly opens and closes shelter each day according to Standard Operating Procedures
* Handles all calls, emails and faxes and shelter correspondence through the main phone number and general email box in a professional manner
* Screens and approves adoption/foster applications. Collects and enters animal information including adoptions, surrenders, arriving strays, court holds, Spay/neuter records, and Wellness Clinic data into the proper database(s) and ensures all forms are completed correctly
* Provides detailed descriptions of shelter and Wellness Clinic policies and services
* Utilize shelter computer software with skill and proficiency
* Schedules foster and shelter/adopter spay/neuter appointments and medical visits in conjunction with the Medical Supervisor
* Provides accurate, appropriate and immediate responses to all requests by the public with professionalism and courtesy
* Maintains a clean, safe, fully stocked and well organized work area
* Maintain a positive attitude and contributes toward a quality work environment
* Cleans the lobby and bathroom areas, taking out lobby garbage and sweeping and mopping of lobby floors
* Communicates to management any and all occurrences involving animals in the shelter that require attention
* Cares, cleans and feeds for any/all lobby animals
* Assists with any tasks and special projects as directed by Shelter Management.

* Must be detail-oriented and have ability to multi-task
* Ability to be efficient and productive in a fast-paced environment
* Ability to firmly and calmly communicate in stressful situations
* Must have enthusiasm and possess excellent customer service skills
* Must possess basic math and money handling skills
* Enjoy working with people and possess a friendly and outgoing personality
* Excellent communication, listening and computer skills
* Must be able to work independently within a team structure
* Must be honest, reliable, and ethical
* Must love animals and be passionate about their welfare
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Shelter Director
INTRODUCTORY ASSESSMENT PERIOD
The introductory assessment period runs from the date of hire for three calendar months thereafter. For employment in any position with the Liberty Human Society, this introductory assessment period is the period during which the specifics of the job are learned.
During this period, either the employee or the Liberty Humane Society may end the employment relationship without notice or prejudice.
