Volunteer Opportunities at LHS
Foster Care
Foster volunteers provide in-home care to cats or dogs who arrive at the shelter sick, injured, underage, or who cannot be ideally housed in a shelter environment. Foster volunteers must be 18 years of age or older and have landlord permission. While short-term fosters are appreciated, ideal caretakers would be willing to house an animal in need of behavioral or medical support, for two weeks or more. Learn more and apply to be a foster home, here.
Transport
Animals in need aren't always where we need them to be - that's where volunteer transporters come in! If you have the ability to help us move animals in times of need, please fill out the form below.
Event Volunteers
Be part of the LHS street team by representing us at fairs, downtown events, and other public gatherings. Training and LHS swag provided!
Remote Special Project Volunteers
Use your voice and talents to help LHS further our mission through advocacy, fundraising, donor engagement, and more!
Social Volunteers
Our digital (and physical) street team! Help us spread the word about LHS on social media and with other community groups. We’ll provide you with the info, you just have to share! Be sure to follow us on Facebook and Instagram.
Host a Supply Drive/Share Our Wishlist
Making a huge impact at LHS doesn't take a huge effort. Volunteers can host supply drives or simply promote our wishlist on their social media feeds to help us gather all of the essentials we need to fulfill our mission.
