It has been a long journey, and we are very excited to share that Liberty Humane Society’s new nonprofit veterinary clinic in Lyndhurst, New Jersey is officially open!

For those who remember Liberty Humane primarily for our work as an animal shelter, this moment represents a significant transition. Over the past few years, we have shifted our focus from housing homeless pets to helping keep pets healthy and in their homes through access to affordable veterinary care.

And after several years of providing those services on the road, we finally have a permanent home.

From a Mobile Clinic to Lyndhurst

Before opening the doors in Lyndhurst, our veterinary team worked from a mobile clinic, providing more than 4,000 spay/neuter surgeries and vaccines to animals in need.

We are enormously proud of what we were able to accomplish from a truck, but we also knew how much more would be possible with a permanent medical facility. Our new clinic includes dedicated surgical, treatment, and recovery space, allowing us to dramatically increase the number of animals we can serve and continue expanding the services we are able to provide.

And yes—we’re still hiring!

While we continue our search for the right veterinarian to join Liberty Humane full-time, we have opened with the help of an incredible group of per diem veterinarians who are making it possible for us to begin serving animals now. Affordable Veterinary Care for Our Community

Spay/neuter surgery remains a major part of our work, along with vaccinations and other essential services. The move to Lyndhurst gives us the space and capacity to do more of that work, while building toward a broader range of affordable care for local pet owners.

We will also continue working with animal shelters, rescue organizations, and community cat programs that depend on access to affordable, high-volume veterinary services.

The setting may have changed, but the purpose of the work has not: helping animals get the care they need, and helping the people who care for them access it.
